Allison Gilbert
Senior Vice President / Partner
“Without courage we cannot practice any other virtue with consistency. We can’t be kind, true, merciful, generous, or honest.” Maya Angelou
Allison has over 30 years of nonprofit fundraising experience ranging from alumni affairs, annual giving, event management, major gift cultivation, and capital campaign planning. She has dedicated her entire career to helping nonprofits grow and flourish.
Having begun her fundraising career with her alma mater Meredith College as Director of Capital and Major Gifts, Allison then advanced to work with United Cerebral Palsy of North Carolina, and the American Lung Association of North Carolina as Field Director and Associate Director of Development. She moved into consulting with First Council, Inc. and spent four years managing capital campaigns for nonprofit organizations, all of which reached their dollar goals. In 2004, Allison was recruited to the North Carolina State College of Veterinary Medicine, serving as a leader in major gift development and ultimately being named Executive Director of the Foundation. Allison moved to the Lowcountry of South Carolina in 2018 where she worked as a fundraising consultant with the United Way of the Lowcountry and Bluffton Self Help. BrightDot welcomed Allison to the team in 2020; she leads teams through assessments, feasibility studies, coaching, and capital campaign execution.
Allison, her husband, Walter, and their beloved golden retriever, Oliver, can be found on their boat fishing and exploring the beautiful South Carolina Lowcountry waterways during their spare time.
